Lecturer - Law

Vaal University of Technology (VUT) invites applications from suitably qualified and experienced academics for the position of Lecturer: Legal Sciences in the Faculty of Human Sciences. The successful candidate will contribute to excellence in teaching and learning, research, community engagement and industry collaboration, while supporting the development and growth of VUT’s academic offerings.

Key performance areas include but are not limited to:

Teaching and coordinating subjects as delegated by the head of department.

Providingacademic support to learners.

Participating in national and/or international conferences and producing accredited research outputs.

Participating in departmental community engagement flagship projects.

Participating in subject advisory committee meetings.

Liaising with industry and other stakeholders to improve the quality and standard of services delivered and keeping abreast of developments in the legal field.

Compiling and offering relevant short courses.

Developing new Law qualifications.

Key Performance Indicators

Teaching and Subject Coordination: Teach and coordinate assigned subjects in accordance with departmental requirements, ensuring effective curriculum delivery and alignment with academic standards.

AcademicSupport and Student Success: Provide academic guidance and support to students, promoting engagement, progression and successful completion of their studies.

Research and Scholarly Outputs: Participate in national and international conferences and contribute to accredited research publications and other scholarly outputs that enhance the University's research profile.

Community Engagement: Participate actively in departmental flagship community engagement projects, applying legal knowledge to address societal needs and contribute to community development.

Subject Advisory Committees: Participate in subject advisory committee meetings and contribute to curriculum review and improvement to ensure the relevance and currency of academic programmes.

Industry and Stakeholder Engagement: Build and maintain relationships with industry, professional bodies and other stakeholders to strengthen the relevance and quality of academic offerings and remain abreast of developments in the legal field.

Short course Development and Delivery: Develop, coordinate and deliver relevant short courses that respond to industry, professional and community needs and support lifelong learning.

Development of New Law Qualifications: Contribute to the conceptualization, development and implementation of new Law qualifications that respond to emerging legal, professional and societal needs.
